  Chapter 297: Another Fight

When Suisui returned, Qi Wangfei had just exchanged a few words with Lu Xinglan.

Upon seeing her, Qi Wangfei immediately opened her arms and picked Suisui up without hesitation.

Suisui had changed into a new outfit, even her little hat was replaced. Concerned, Qi Wangfei carefully asked about the situation.

It was normal for children to be restless and unable to sit still at such banquets, and changing clothes was a common occurrence. Parents would always ask about it, just to be sure.

Held in her mother’s arms, Suisui recalled what had happened and briefly mentioned the events.

Her expression and communication skills had been improving, and her logical thinking was becoming quite good. Though she occasionally mixed things up, she usually managed to explain events clearly without too many discrepancies. When Aunt Xiang occasionally reminded her, Suisui would quickly understand where she had gone off-track.

When she mentioned that she and Ying Zhi had gone to Lu Yinsong’s courtyard, Qi Wangfei’s heart immediately tensed up.

Lu Yinsong...

Since the injury to his leg, his temperament had changed drastically, and he became difficult to approach. Even his grandmother, Old Madam Lu, often faced rejection. Qi Wangfei had never imagined that Princess Shunyang would be so bold as to go directly to his courtyard, let alone crawl through a dog hole with Suisui.

However, the incident had already happened. Qi Wangfei now wondered how to handle the aftermath.

Children could be reckless, but the adults would have to step in and show their response.

But the situation with Lu Yinsong was complicated, making things even harder.

As Suisui continued speaking, she suddenly mentioned Lu Yinxiao: “And Third Brother! Third Brother is so handsome!”

Children’s preferences are straightforward—what’s good-looking is simply good-looking, and what’s not isn’t.

Lu Yinsong was indeed handsome too, but his cold demeanor, combined with the fact that Suisui hadn’t really gotten a good look at him, left her only remembering the back of his figure after he had rudely ordered her to leave.

To be honest, if she were to see him again now, she probably wouldn’t recognize him.

But Lu Yinxiao was different. She had clearly observed him. She gestured with her hand to illustrate: “His eyes are like this, so beautiful! His mouth is nice too, and his nose is high. He ties his hair up—so black and shiny! His clothes are pretty too, similar in color to the ones Big Brother wore before, embroidered with flowers, and there’s a beautiful jade ornament at his waist. And...”

Suisui tilted her little head, carefully recalling the details of Lu Yinxiao's appearance.

At this point, Qi Wangfei, who had been distracted thinking about Lu Yinsong, was now fully drawn in by Suisui’s straightforward description.

It was clear that Suisui had a good impression of Lu Yinxiao.

Qi Wangfei also liked the boy, though his mature and serious demeanor made him hard to approach, even for an elder like herself. He had a little "pufferfish" face, which made him difficult to tease. When one tried to joke with him, he would simply lecture you, giving off the aura of a little adult. It was both amusing and a little exasperating.

Lu Yinxiao’s looks resembled those of his grandfather. The Old Marquis had been a famously handsome young man in the capital, so it was no surprise that Lu Yinxiao was also quite handsome.

When Suisui said Third Brother was handsome, it wasn’t just a child's casual remark.

Qi Wangfei also agreed that Lu Yinxiao was indeed good-looking.

She complimented him based on Suisui’s description, which made the child very happy, and seeing Suisui so pleased also made Qi Wangfei feel content.

Just as Qi Wangfei was about to listen to more of Suisui's stories from outside, a commotion suddenly erupted.

Qi Wangfei instinctively looked up, her brows furrowing slightly.

The Grand Princess and Old Madam Lu had left early due to health reasons.

The Grand Princess, aware that her presence made others uneasy, had chosen to retire to the back courtyard before the banquet had even reached its halfway point.

Now that Madam Lu was absent, everyone else was still socializing. Although their voices weren’t too quiet, they were certainly more subdued compared to the ruckus from outside.

Even though the hosts weren’t present, it still felt inappropriate for the guests to cause such a disturbance.

Lu Xinglan, who had been listening to Suisui, noticed the noise and her expression immediately grew colder. She smoothed out her skirt and led the way out.

Seeing her serious demeanor, the others quickly made way for her.

With Madam Lu absent, Lu Xinglan, as a member of the Lu family, was naturally more suited and had the authority to handle any unexpected situations that arose during the banquet.

Qi Wangfei, feeling uneasy, held Suisui and followed the others as they moved forward.

Aunt Qiu had clearly already sent someone to inquire about the situation. On their way out, she whispered to Qi Wangfei, "It’s the eldest daughter of the Xu family and the second daughter of the Xie family who got into a fight."

The Xu family and Xie family? Qi Wangfei quickly processed this information, connecting the two families, and immediately realized what had happened.

It must have been a quarrel between the cousins.

The second daughter of the Xie family was the daughter of Madam Xie, who was the sister of the Marquis Jinyang. The eldest daughter of the Xu family was the first daughter of the Marquis Jinyang.

The relationship between the two families wasn’t particularly close. The Marquis’s sister had a timid personality, and unable to directly confront the Marquis Jinyang, Madam Xu would often cause trouble for her sister-in-law, creating disturbances at the Xie family’s residence.

Not long ago, she had visited the Xie family and caused an incident where she accidentally hurt the eldest young madam of the Xie family, the niece of Master Shen.

Qi Wangfei had heard about this. She had privately asked the Prince to inquire if there was anything they could assist with. Master Shen had assured her that everything had been resolved, so she hadn’t given it much thought afterward.

Now, the same trouble had flared up again.

Dealing with such relatives was truly troublesome and disheartening.

And now, they were guests at someone else's home, and this mess had started up again.

Qi Wangfei really didn’t know what to say.

At this point, she was quite relieved that Suisui had come to their house and not the Xu family’s. If it had been the Xu family, this kind of commotion would likely become a daily occurrence, affecting the children’s growth and mood.

Qi Wangfei actually preferred to avoid any involvement with the Marquis Jinyang’s family.

However, since Suisui was curious and looking around, Qi Wangfei didn’t want to disappoint the child’s interest. After a moment of hesitation, she decided to carry her over to the scene.

She thought they could watch from a distance and satisfy Suisui’s curiosity without getting too close.

There was really no need to get too involved.

It was just a couple of young ladies arguing over their hairpins. There wasn’t much to see.

Suisui had already witnessed a "fist fight" between Feng Youtan and Ying Zhi before. Of course, that had just been a sparring match, not a real fight, with both sides holding back.

This time, however, the second daughter of the Xie family and the eldest daughter of the Xu family were truly fighting.

The two had already grabbed each other’s hair, gritting their teeth and muttering something under their breath. Although their voices weren’t loud, the scene wasn’t exactly pleasant.

Lu Xinglan walked over, her face darkening as she watched the two of them tangled together.

"How could it come to this?" she thought, feeling disgraced by the scene.
