Chapter 292: Is Xiao Fu Bao Disliked? The Whole City Loves Me With Their Lives
Chapter 292: Crawling Through the Dog Hole
The aunt who served the princess said as much, and Aunt Xiang thought, "Forget it, there's no way to stop her." So she followed along.
If they really ran into trouble, she could at least stand in front and shield her.
Besides, there's still a princess.
With no other choice, Aunt Xiang followed her.
Suisui didn’t understand why her sister was so insistent on going into someone else’s courtyard.
After realizing her persuasion was ineffective, she sighed like an adult and then followed behind Feng Youtan.
Feng Youtan didn’t want Suisui to be scared and whispered, "Fourth Brother has a bad temper, he’ll just scold people. He doesn’t hit anyone."
Suisui: ?
You didn’t say this before.
If you had said this earlier...
Forget it, if her sister was going, she would follow.
Suisui didn’t quite understand. If Fourth Brother had a bad temper, why did her sister still want to go?
The two of them, one in front and one behind, arrived at Young Master Lu's courtyard.
The gate was tightly shut, even though it was a sunny day and there was a banquet at the manor.
But Young Master Lu’s courtyard gate was firmly closed, as if they were afraid someone might sneak in.
After walking around the gate, Feng Youtan pointed to the trees not far away and said, "Let’s climb over that."
But then, seeing Suisui’s small frame, Feng Youtan shook her head. "Never mind, you’re just a little cucumber, you can’t climb it."
Suisui: ?
The child didn’t understand, so she seriously corrected her, "I’m Suisui, not Little Cucumber."
Feng Youtan didn’t listen to Suisui’s explanation, laughing, "Little Cucumber, Little Cucumber!"
Suisui puffed up her face in anger, but unfortunately, her face had little fat, just a slight roundness.
Feng Youtan thought her face felt nice and quickly changed her tune, "Alright, alright, Suisui isn’t Little Cucumber, come on, let me pinch it."
As she spoke, Feng Youtan’s hand was already reaching over.
Suisui had been pinched by her sister before, and it didn’t hurt, just felt a little itchy.
She obediently stretched her head out.
Her proactive behavior amused Feng Youtan, who laughed and said, "You’re so fun. I want to put you in a food box and take you back to the palace to play."
Suisui wanted to say she was a person, not a toy.
But unable to win the argument with her sister, she swallowed the words back down.
The two little girls found it difficult to climb, so Aunt Chou suggested, "Why don’t we just knock on the door?"
It wasn’t like they had some shameful identity; they could knock on the door.
If Young Master Lu didn’t let them in, they’d get scolded a bit and then leave, right?
Feng Youtan wasn’t convinced, hands on her hips, head held high like a rooster preparing for battle: "No! How can we not go in? I want to, I want to, I want to go!"
She huffed, shaking her little head, and marched forward. "I remember there’s a dog hole here, I’m going through it, and no one is stopping me!"
Aunt Chou: ...
She was used to it. Sometimes, it was better to just lie down and let things be.
Aunt Chou thought, sometimes it’s fine to just lie down.
It’s comfortable to live, and peaceful to die.
What else could she do?
Aunt Xiang, seeing that Aunt Chou had given up and was waiting for the end with a peaceful expression, was startled.
She nervously leaned closer to Aunt Chou. "This... really can’t be persuaded?"
Aunt Chou showed a smile that seemed to have seen through life and death: "You see, does persuasion even work?"
Aunt Xiang: ...
Seems like it doesn’t.
Sigh!
The palace’s aunts and wet nurses may appear glamorous, but upon closer inspection, serving others is no easy task. When something happens to the little princess, it’s they, the servants, who will bear the consequences.
The two attendants had already come to terms with the situation. With the mindset that death would come eventually, whether sooner or later, they followed the two young girls forward.
Feng Youtan had clearly been here before, and it seemed she had crawled through the dog hole.
She knew the place well and, after a short while, found it. She didn’t hesitate to crawl in and called out to Suisui, "Come on, this hole is so fun! The more you crawl, the wider it gets. Once you’re through, there’s a little garden, and it smells so nice."
Suisui hesitated a bit, feeling that it wasn’t right to enter someone else’s courtyard without permission.
But not knowing how to refuse her sister, she helplessly followed behind Feng Youtan.
The two little girls crawled through the dog hole one after the other.
When Aunt Chou saw Feng Youtan crawling in, she had already signaled for someone to knock on the door.
They couldn’t crawl in, so what else could they do but use the main gate?
Suisui felt like they had been crawling for a long time.
Soon, a fragrance of grass and trees filled the air, and they saw the warm sunlight.
Had they made it out?
Suisui looked up, and Feng Youtan was already standing, brushing the dirt off her clothes.
Seeing that Suisui hadn’t gotten up, Feng Youtan quickly extended her hand, "Come on, get up. You look like a little dog. We just crawled through the dog hole, not like we’re dogs ourselves."
Suisui still looked confused but obediently reached out her hand.
Feng Youtan, strong and tall for her age, easily lifted Suisui up with one hand, and she stood up without much effort, still a bit dazed.
She was about to follow her sister’s example and pat her clothes when she noticed someone ahead.
Suisui gasped in surprise and looked up, only to see two people sitting and standing a little distance away.
The young man sitting, with a stern expression, was staring in their direction.
The other man, standing next to him, had his mouth slightly open, seemingly shocked by their unexpected entrance.
Suisui froze in panic. Had they been caught sneaking into someone’s courtyard?
She nervously tugged at Feng Youtan’s sleeve, "Sister... sister... there’s someone."
Her voice trembled with fear.
Feng Youtan had, of course, noticed the figures. She gently patted Suisui’s hand to comfort her, "Don’t worry, I see them. That’s Second Brother."
Suisui was about to ask who Second Brother was when the man sitting in the chair suddenly yelled, "Get out!"
His face darkened, his eyes fierce, and his voice had a hoarse edge to it, as if he had been shouting for a while.
After shouting, he gestured for the servants.
The standing servant quickly pushed Young Master Lu’s wheelchair, turning his back to Feng Youtan and Suisui, and began moving in the opposite direction.
Feng Youtan wasn’t deterred. She hurriedly called out, "Second Brother, it’s me!"
But Young Master Lu didn’t respond. He just raised his voice and yelled again, "Get out!"
Suisui was startled by his shout and nervously clutched Feng Youtan’s clothes.
Despite being yelled at, Feng Youtan wasn’t angry. Instead, she mischievously replied, "Second Brother, I won’t leave. You’ll have to show me how to get out. Come down and demonstrate!"
Young Master Lu didn’t answer her but signaled for the servant to speed up. In no time, both the master and servant were out of their sight.
Feng Youtan was still determined and, holding Suisui’s hand, tried to chase after them.
But another servant quickly appeared, slightly bowing, and respectfully but firmly said, "Princess, please return."
