Chapter 1286: The Workshop Commences
When Shu Yu received the news, she was in the field collecting sunflowers.
She was wearing a dirty apron, her hair tied up in a bun and covered with a cloth. In her hand, she held a sickle to cut the sunflower stems. She worked diligently, and no one in the crowd would recognize her.
The messenger was Xia Yan, a follower of Meng Yunzheng. It took him a while to find Shu Yu in the sunflower field.
Due to special channels in the direction of Xiang Weinan, they received the news of the new emperor's ascension—Prince Wu—before the official documents arrived from the capital. So Xia Yan rushed over to inform Shu Yu.

The workshop now had three courtyards: one for processing seeds, one for oil pressing, and one for the employees' living and dining quarters.
The three courtyards were separated by a large open space in the middle. If the workshop expanded in the future, they could build on the open space. Otherwise, it could be used for drying and picking sunflower seeds.
The outermost layer was surrounded by a wall, enclosing all three courtyards, leaving only one main gate and two side gates.
There were guards at all three gates, but usually, the side gates remained closed, and everyone entered and exited through the main gate.
On the day of commencement, Shu Yu was also present. Dressed neatly, she stood at the main gate and gave a brief speech to the excited forty-two employees. With that, the Lu Family Workshop was officially open for business.
The gate opened, and the employees streamed in.
Though they had already seen the workshop inside, they couldn't help but look around on their first day at work.
However, not long after entering, they became puzzled.
Shu Yu led the way, but why did she head left when the working rooms were on the right?
The group felt a bit nervous.
Until they arrived at the leftmost accommodation area, Shu Yu finally stopped. She looked over the group, making them feel uneasy. They were afraid of encountering a problem on their first day that would lead to being sent back home.
Finally, a villager from Shishi Village named Luo Chun couldn't help but ask, "Master, aren't we, aren't we going to work?"
Shu Yu smiled, "Of course, but before that, there are a few things to do."
Her tone was gentle, and the group felt a bit relieved.
