Chapter 447: The Peasant Girl’s Splendid Manor
Chapter 447: Partnering with the Men in Black (7)
The men in black remained silent.
Damn, silence again. What's the meaning behind your silence?
The little devil in Mo Yan's heart became completely restless. If her martial strength wasn't lacking, she would have thrown these two guys out long ago. Why should she waste her breath talking to them?
Perhaps sensing her irritation, Xiao Hua and Da Bai stood on either side, emitting low growls of dissatisfaction towards the two men, as if warning them not to remain silent, or they would bite them to death.
The expression on the men's faces changed slightly. They had experienced the ferocity of these two wolves before. Since the day they arrived, the wolves had detected them. If they had ill intentions, they would have been exposed long ago and wouldn't have had the chance to stay.
This time, the men in black didn't continue to remain silent. In a flat tone, one of them said, "Without the master's orders, we dare not leave our posts. If the young lady is unwilling, you may discuss it with the master first."
Mo Yan was left speechless by their words. She ran her hand through her hair in frustration, unable to decide whether she was irritated by being watched or by someone's earnest intentions towards her.
By the time she calmed down, the two men in black had disappeared. Mo Yan knew they were definitely lurking in some corner, but she didn't have the energy to have Xiao Hua and Da Bai find them. With a gloomy expression, she returned to the courtyard with the two beasts.
Another sleepless night!
According to custom, the next few days were supposed to be spent visiting relatives for New Year's greetings. However, the Mo family had no relatives to visit. Even if they went to the Liu family, they would have to wait until after the sixth day of the New Year, as the Liu family would surely be busy receiving guests before that.
Fortunately, the Mo family had many members. Despite many taboos and restrictions during the New Year, sitting together, chatting, and joking around made the time pass quickly.
Thus, days flew by. After visiting the Liu family and the Han family, as well as returning greetings to the Cheng and Mu families, it was already the eighth day of the first lunar month.
Wu shi planned to start her stall after the Lantern Festival. Therefore, starting from the eighth day of the first lunar month, whenever she had free time, she would come to Mo Yan's house to learn how to make snacks.
Time was not abundant, so according to the taste preferences of northerners, who preferred salty and sour flavors, Mo Yan decided to teach two dishes first to avoid overwhelming Wu shi. One was the famous jianbing guozi (fried pancake with various fillings), and the other was egg-filled flatbread. Additionally, there was a spicy soup to accompany them, which was perfect for the cold weather.
Wu shi cherished this opportunity to escape her predicament and thus learned very diligently. Mo Yan taught her meticulously, without holding anything back. After learning, Wu shi made them for several days in a row, and the taste was almost as good as Mo Yan's. However, the family members, who were used to Mo Yan's cooking, could still taste the difference, but it was good enough for selling in the city.
The Mo family ran a rice shop and also sold flour. There was an abundance of vegetables, eggs, and chickens in the space. Therefore, Mo Yan took the initiative to supply the ingredients for making snacks, deducting the cost from the earned money on a monthly basis.
As for flour, it was readily available from the shop. For vegetables, the backyard could temporarily supply them. As for eggs and chickens, Mo Yan could only pretend to go out to buy them from the city to avoid exposing the secret of the space to those two men in black.
Fortunately, when the weather warmed up, those chickens in the space would be released into the orchard, saving Mo Yan a lot of trouble.
Wu shi's frequent visits to the Mo family naturally couldn't escape the eyes of the old Mo family members.
The two families had already severed ties, and the old Mo felt that his daughter-in-law's frequent visits to the Mo family were a slap in his face. One day, when Wu shi returned from the Mo family, he deliberately said a few words, but Wu shi didn't listen and just brushed him off in a few words.
Feeling aggrieved, the old Mo didn't know how to discipline his daughter-in-law since he couldn't just abandon or divorce her. So, he had to pressure his eldest son to discipline his wife.
Mo Yongfu was soft and foolish. He dared not disobey his father's words, but he couldn't disobey his wife's either, especially when his wife was solely focused on their children's well-being. Therefore, he pretended to comply with the old Mo's words on the surface, scolding Wu shi, but in his heart, he was already biased.
However, with Niu shi stirring up trouble, how could Hong shi tolerate her daughter-in-law becoming friendly with the "enemy" who had harmed her daughter?
