Chapter 1162: Full-level Boss Dressed As a Peasant Girl
Chapter 1162: The Situation at the Hong Family
Shu Yu was afraid that Gouwa might have some indigestion if he ate too much, so she led him slowly in the room while talking to him.
Although she was the only one talking, Gouwa remained silent throughout.
After walking around the room twice, Gouwa became tired. After all, he was only two years old, and the events in the main room had exhausted the little guy.
Shu Yu took him to the latrine and then placed him on the bed, patting his shoulder gently. "Sleep now and talk about other things after you rest."
Gouwa was still uneasy in this unfamiliar place.
Fortunately, Shu Yu had been accompanying him, talking to him with patience and kindness. Eventually, he couldn't stay awake and fell asleep.
Once he was deeply asleep, Doctor Zhao came in.
Shu Yu moved aside from the bed, allowing Doctor Zhao to check his pulse.
After examining him, Doctor Zhao came out and whispered to Shu Yu and the others, "This child probably hasn't been eating very well, and his pulse is weak, indicating physical deficiency. Additionally, the coarse diet has harmed his spleen and stomach, and he hasn't had a bowel movement in a couple of days. I'll give him some mild medicine later; there shouldn't be any major issues. He's still young, so we can gradually nurse him back to health. With us taking care of him, he won't go hungry again."
Meng Pei asked from the side, "What about his inability to speak?"
Doctor Zhao shook his head, "It's hard to say right now. I'll need to wait until he trusts me enough to examine his throat and determine if it's a problem with his vocal cords."
With young children, patience was necessary.
The group exchanged glances, realizing that they could only do this for now and focus on nourishing him.
Shu Yu thought about their departure from the capital tomorrow and asked, "Can he accompany us on the journey?"
Doctor Zhao nodded, "Since we're traveling by water, there shouldn't be any worries about rough roads. We can make good progress."
With his reassurance, everyone felt relieved.
Just as they were talking, Ying Xi returned.
She had secretly followed behind Aunt Hong earlier, visiting her house and inquiring around the neighborhood.
"Aunt Hong's house is also in the south of the city, about three streets away from here." Presumably, it was because the distance was short that Aunt Hong managed to find out where Meng Yunzheng lived.
Ying Xi continued, "I asked the neighbors around Aunt Hong's house, and what she said was true. The previous man, Song Dazhuang, was indeed raised by the Hong family. The head of the Hong family treated Song Dazhuang, his nephew, very well. So, they prepared a dowry for him to marry a wife, a woman surnamed Wei. Wei left to live with her family two years ago, and it caused quite a stir in the neighborhood at that time."
Although the Hong parents treated Song Dazhuang well, their several children didn't like their simple-minded cousin and were often mocked by other kids in the neighborhood because of him when they were young.
As they grew up, their relationship naturally deteriorated.
After Song Dazhuang got married, the Hong children wanted him to move out.
However, old Hong disagreed, and the conflict became irreconcilable.
When Wei shi left to live with her family, the Hong children made a half-hearted attempt to stop her but eventually stopped caring.
Now, only Gouwa remained at the Hong family. While old Hong was alive, he had the final say as the head of the family.
Six months ago, after his death, the family split directly. Hong Laoda took Aunt Hong with him, and his wife was unhappy because Aunt Hong brought Gouwa with her and grumbled all day long. She wasn't happy about it at all.
