PWDLAW Chapter 96: Making Money

 Chapter 96: Making Money

Ye Muyu remembered that the Wild Fan Flower blooms and bears fruit in January or February. Now it was already May and these fruits appeared to be black-red instead of red. Because they were fully ripe, a gentle touch caused the fruits on the branches to fall. The basket was now full. Ye Muyu checked the time and decided to come back in the afternoon for more picking. There was no need to rush at the moment. Ye Muyu didn't leave immediately. She wanted to see if there were any other plants in the field. Upon closer inspection, Ye Muyu did find some different plants aside from the common wild vegetables. "Is this ginger?" Ye Muyu squatted down, looking at the yellow ginger bulbs that had already emerged from the dry soil. It was somewhat unexpected. She grabbed a stick nearby and carefully dug them out. She had been thinking earlier that it might be a good business to plant ginger in winter. The time wasn't right, so she had put it off. Now she found old ginger from the ground which could be used as ginger seeds. As far as she knew the ginger in the county was used solely for medicinal purposes. The ginger bought from the medicinal shop was all dried ginger slices and couldn't be used for planting. In the village, no one planted ginger. The reason was simple, ginger had always been considered medicinal and most people believed that medicinal plants were more effective when growing wild. In reality, many medicinal herbs did indeed have better effects when wild, but ginger could be used in cooking as a condiment not restricted by the years. Thinking about it, Ye Muyu sped up and knocked off the soil on top. Because the soil was very dry and hard, aside from natural rainfall it had never received any irrigation. This elevated land couldn't get water from the river, explaining why it was so dry. After exerting a lot of effort and breaking a sweat, Ye Muyu managed to dig out a piece. "This... probably isn't ginger." Ye Muyu frowned. Perhaps due to the extreme dryness, some parts nearby had withered and turned yellow and the roots were very dry. "Is this Polygonatum?"  Ye Muyu, with her broad knowledge and good memory, finally recognized this plant. "It's another medicinal plant..." "Unfortunately, artificially cultivated Polygonatum is much less effective. If it were really ginger, I could have planted it and earned a continuous income. There's not much Polygonatum here and after digging it up, it probably won't grow again for at least four or five years." Although Ye Muyu sighed in her heart, it could be considered a pleasant surprise. She put the Polygonatum in the basket. Turning around, Ye Muyu walked towards home. Along the way, she looked around. Perhaps because of the mountains, there were quite a few plants. She even saw Wild Fan Flowers on many hillsides. Her field had relatively few. As for Polygonatum, there was even less, only a corner of her field had some growing. Ye Muyu thought she could take the opportunity to explore the mountains she might discover other medicinal herbs. The villagers hadn't read books so they didn't know what medicinal herbs looked like. Just as she returned home, Ye Muyu saw Chu Ziluo running out of the house. "Mother, you're back." Chu Ziluo grinned and greeted her. Ye Muyu walked slowly towards her and asked "When did you come back?" "Grandma sent me back just now, not long ago." "Brother is still studying in the school. Grandma said she already told him to come home after school." Chu Ziluo said loudly. Ye Muyu didn't expect Chu Liushi to be so decisive. They had just discussed this matter a couple of days ago and now the child was sent back without any hesitation. However, in doing so she felt the other party's kindness.
